Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) exhaust brake question....

i know this is a basic question, BUT



I was wondering if you have to have the brake activate when throttle is released?, OR can you have it activate only when the button on that I will mount on the shifter ????

you can do alot of damage to the transmission if you use the exhaust incorrectly
