I just installed a Pacbrake Exhaust brake last Friday and I like the system but I am having a problem. When I come to a complete stop the brake stays engaged for about 5 or 10 seconds. When I was finally able to get in touch with Pacbrake they immediately told me that I need to get my ECM re-flashed. I am not having any problems with the ECM so I do not really want to mess with it. Might cause other problems. Has anyone had this problem and had to have their ECM re-flashed?

On some trucks the brake will stay engaged until the throttle is pressed and the ECM sees that you wish to go..... On other trucks the ECM sees that the truck has stopped rolling and will turn off the exhaust brake... .

I own several trucks and my trucks do both... based on which one you drive... I don't care for the dealer doing any work on my stuff unless I just have to have it done under warranty... . So I leave them as they are... . Its just something I've learned to live with.....

On each of my trucks we also have the gear shift mounted master switch... . and one of our drivers doesn't care for the exhaust brake on while he's at a stop so he just flips off the brake with the switch... and as he shifts up he turns it back on... .

Hope this helps... .

Thanks Jim, I tried calling the company three times and finally got thru to I think TJ was his name. He told me that I needed my ECM re-flashed but I really do not want to mess with it. I have the shift mounted switch but have not installed it yet. I guess I will just have to live with it. And my cruser is a 1980 FLH Dresser that I completely re-built about 10yrs ago. 93" stroker w/all Andrews gears in the trans. Thanks again...
