Any Interest in this TDR Sticker I thought of?

suggestion to increase use of Search function

When I bought my '98 12v in late '97 I had a "BD" exhaust brake installed. The installer placed the on/off toggle switch on the dash beneath the steering wheel, this was not convenient. I decided that an old type floor dimmer switch would be handier. I put a pilot light in the toggle switch hole. I don't know if this has been addressed earlier since I am a relatively new member.

JWithers,

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not sure if you are asking a question here or telling us what you did. I'm old enough to remember the old headlight dimmer switches on the floor. Using one to turn the exhaust brake on and off is kind of novel idea, can't say that I've ever heard of someone doing that.

A fairly common switch relocation for those who have manual transmissions is to put the switch on the shifter.

If you're ever wondering whether someone else has already done something or if anyone else has ever had a problem that you are experiencing learning to use the search feature of the forums will uncover vast amounts of information. ;)

BTW, I see that we are both members of the exclusive 98 12v club.

I had a jake with a shift lever mounted switch made by BD. It had an aluminum body and IMHO was much nicer than the new plastic jake shift lever mount I have on my 04. I priced the BD switch at around $50 at the dealer. I really like the shift lever mount because it is so handy.

There is also an ad in the Geno's flyer which came with the last TDR issue for a new switch that is ontop and recessed in the shift knob. I think it is a good idea. However, I wrap my knobs in leather. It keeps them clean from my grundgy hands. It also is my anti-theft device because they can't figure how to shift it.

I have had my exhaust brake switch floor mounted since mid '98. The switch for my "U. S. " od is on the gear shifter - John
