Anyone had experience with a Pac Brake, good or bad? Thinking of installing one on my 2007 2500 Turbo Diesel to pull my RV

love it

I love my PACBRAKE! i drive with it on all the time. Took me about 4 hours to put it on. Got mine from RIP for about $1600. Been on since middle of April.

Installed a PACBRAKE on two previous trucks. Performed excellent with no problems.

the pac and the bd are the best and work better than the rest they both hold 65 psi from max rpm to idle. i have a preference of the bd over the pac because of where the compressor mounts. we run a fleet of dodges and have both, the pac compressor gets in the way, is hot and gets constant vibration and because of this we have more compressor failures. the bd mounts the compressor in the fender near the hood has cool air and no engine vibration and have not had one failure

I really like my PacBrake PRXB exhaust brake. Makes descending long, steep grades with my 4,200 pound TC easy.

I drive with it on most of the time. Only exception is it is off when climbing long, steep, curvy roads on hot days. The compressor only has a duty cycle rating of 30% and it can heat soak, trip its thermocut off switch and stop working, if mounted on top of the engine, as it cycles almost continuously as you take your foot on and off the accelerator with each curve, when going uphill. Once you get used to using the exhaust brake you will really miss it for the 20 - 40 minutes it takes to cool down and function again

Solution is simple, PacBrake recommends an alternate installation location, passenger side, inner vertical fender brace, under the airbox on 2003 and newer trucks. That is where I'd mount it if I were installing it today. Much cooler location.

I've had a PAC PRXB for almost 80,000 miles and love it. My compressor died this year and I replaced it with a 100% duty cycle unit under the bed to drive my brake and air bags. Love the brake, though. I have >113k on the original service brakes with over 30% left.
