exhaust brake

Is there a factory exhaust brake for a 2009? I like the idea of the 4th gen. having an integral exhaust brake from the factory, but I am looking at third gen's. to upgrade to and was going to ask the dealer to install one if it is available.

Not the early 6. 7's... . it was an option.

I test drove an 09 mega cab. I didn't see any buutons that say E-brake. Where should I have looked for the switch or button to turn it on and off?

Low on the center dash. Braking action is triggered by taking your foot off the accelerator pedal (with the switch on). It will slow the truck down to about 25 mph then cut out.

Since it was an option, does the feature need to be turned "back on" when a new turbo is installed?

All 6. 7's since 2007. 5 in the Ram trucks had the exhaust brake standard from the factory.

it is in the ecm software not the turbo. so no it would not.

I agree. I have heard from numerous people numerous times that the mid-year model built in late '06 and early '07 WITH 6. 7 liters did not have the button to turn them on. The VGT was standard, but the programming and the button were added at the dealership.
