I'm the proud owner of a 2003 green HO dually and want an exhaust brake. After reading the numerous discussions on this subject I have an additional question for everyone out there.

Has anybody had positive or negative comments on running either a Jacobs or Pacbrake in extremely cold weather. The accumulation of water is my concern due to the air compressors.

I've lived in Alaska for 32 years and at times it can get brutally cold out.

If this is a problem then maybe the electonic solenoid brake may be best.

thanks for the help... ... ... ... ... ...

The Jacobs used a belt driven vacuum pump so condensation in the system is not a problem unless you submerse the pump. It was pretty cold here this winter and I never once encountered a problem with mine. Did help it to warm up faster though which I really liked.

Actually the install is complete, I went with the Pacbrake and Pac shifter switch. I got the brake from Pacific Brake and Clutch for a great price. Heres some info, Jim / Paciific Clutch & Brake, a PacBrake Distributor... ...

Also installed SPA boost and EGT in single gauge pod so I kept the A-pillar handle.

nanook,

Did you get the clutch switch with the PacBrake? This switch keeps the brake from trying to engage when shifting. This switch was part of the early kits, but is now an option.
