exhaust brakes--banks vs BD

Well I was all set to get my BD exhaust brake, but then Banks came on the scene with theirs. So I figured I would wait until someone did a comparo on the two, but I haven't seen any comparison tests on them.



Has anyone here seen a comparison of the Banks and BD? Anyone have their own comparison data?

BD being one of the more expensive brakes (cheaper than Banks I hear though!) has one key feature to it that makes me want one so much more than a Pac..... it works in WAY down low RPMs I hear.



Steve St. Laurent said he doesn't use his regular brakes till he gets down to about 5mph:--)

Got smoke, that is why I was sold on the BD. I don't expect the Banks to change my mind, but I like to make informed decisions and I haven't seen a test on the Banks vs BD.

Ok how about the full page article comparing Banks to Pac Brake on the first page or second page of every TDR mag?



I know its not BD, but it will give you some ideas about Banks brake.

A note on price, I was just quoted $75 less than BD for a Banks brake for a stock exhaust and $30 more than BD with a banks "monster exhaust", both quotes from the same dealer.

Just a question. Does this mean that Banks is not requiring you to use their downpipe with the brake. When they were first advertised here on this site it seemed that you needed to use their downpipe to mate up to the end of their brake.



that would seem ok, if you had a stock exhaust and were interesting in upgrading it. But what if you already had a 4" exhaust, do you really have to remove the existing downpipe and install theirs. Or did they abandon this idea?



Or is that $75 less than BD for the brake with downpipe, and only $30 more for the brake with downpipe and complete exhaust.

i am going to jump in here. the banks break does need a new down pipe but when i got mine it was included in the price. i already had the 4 inch exhaust but they do sell the down pipe for both the factory and their four inch. either way its a good break and i have liked mine.
