Does anyone know anything on the avalibility of an exhaust brake for the '03s. The parts man that I have dealt with for years said her had no idea, that Dodge hasn't told them anything. I haven't called Cummins or anyone else yet, I just thought I'd ask and see if anyone here might know.

Thanks

Fireman,

At one of the seminars at the recent National Rally in Columbus headed up by the Jacobs and Cummins reps, and according to them, there is an exhaust brake available for the '03 truck. It comes in a kit which uses the ECM for controlling the off/on, has a belt driven vacuum pump which bolts to the front of the engine, and the brake fits down stream of the turbo like the present Jacobs/Cummins E-Brake. They didn't discuss price or availability. You might try the Cummins 800 number for questions on availability.

The bolt on vacuum pump is necessary to supply the vacuum since the '03 trucks use a small electric vacuum pump which only operates the HVAC system.

exhaust brake

Was talking to my dealer on Saturday and he said he is looking for the paperwork, but DC is offering some sort of rebate for purchase of exhaust brake with truck. I wouldn't be without one and will let you know what dealer finds out. :D :D

In another thread Blue Goat had an e-mail from Jacobs that said they wouldn't be avalable untill mid Oct. Production problems I think. Mean while my parts guy hasn't come up with anything yet. The local Cummins dealer is confused, I don't think they have seen an'03 yet and they don't know much for sure.
