No oil pressure

Hey Guys,

My truck started making a weird "gasping" sound through the exhaust, and I noticed a loss of power at RPMs < 2000 at the same time this started. #ad
Luckily, I have an old video of my exhaust sound for you to be able to compare the problem sound to.

This '04 has 5 inch straight pipe, but does have a resonator on it. I need to get this back on the road as soon as possible, please let me know what you think.

I did notice something the past few weeks that I just thought of. The truck occasionally hasn't idled down properly when I stop. It may hang around 1000-1100 RPM for several seconds before returning to idle. When it does this, I'm absolutely certain it isn't the high idle feature engaging.

Anybody have any ideas where to start on this?

Thanks!

The most obvious conclusion is sticking injector. Do you run additives? If not you need a heavy duty cleaning and then a continuous diet of additives for cleaning and lube to see if that will clear it up.

The hanging idle is a typical problem with the manual trucks. Dealer MIGHT have a flash that MAY help it but no guarantees, it did not work for some.

Thank you for the reply. I only run additives in the winter when the temps are below freezing. This past winter I ran Diesel Kleen in a tank or two, and I think Howes one time also. What's the best way to try to clean the system out?

SeaFoam or CRC Injector cleaner poured in the filter housing after draining the fuel, fill the housing with cleaner, then start and run the engine for 30 seconds or so to push the cleaner thru the and let it sit for at least 12 hours. Does a full tank with a quart of 2SO and a quart of Power Service in white bottle then drive it. If it is sticking parts that should make an impact, if it doesn't like means the damage is more than just sticking. CR injectors have clearance in the 2 um range and stock filters are only good to 7 um, it doesn't take much to score the pintle rod or bore and cause issues plus wear on the return circuits.
