Well, when Charlan saw my manifold he pointed out how much it had shrank, and lately I have heard that familiar sound of an exhaust leak and sure enough it is leaking in atleast 2 places but it isn't cracked. It has really gotten bad lately with the manifold moving as much as 1/8" in some places, funny seeing the gaskets sticking out the way they are. My question is will a 2nd Gen manifold fit on a 1st Gen? The bolts don't look bent but would it be good to replace them as well? Anybody have a manifold lying around? PM me if somebody can help. Thanks.

2nd Gen 12v manifold WILL FIT our older trucks. You will have to move some of the brackets holding the heater hose, I think, but that is about it. The important parts bolt right up (my heater hose is hanging in mid air, and isnt touching anything hot). Put an ad in the classifieds; I did that a year ago, and got one that had shrunk only 1/16" vs the 1/8+ my original had shrunk. Some porting and it flows well enough.

I would get new bolts while I had it off. ALso a new turbo drain gasket ($. 95 from DC), and manifold to turbo gasket. Shouldnt be over $30 for the whole kit-n-kaboodle.

Just got outbidded on ebay for one, placed a wanted ad, but where can one be picked up, and how much do they run for a new one?

Personally I'd just do a quick block sanding on the stock manifold then open up the two bolt holes that are smaller than the rest and install new gaskets.

You can do some porting and polishing while it's off the truck which is fairly easy to do as well.

The bolt holes around #2/3 cylinder (?) are smaller than all the rest. Find the drill bit one size up and open those holes a tad.

Unless you go to a 3 piece manifold like the ATS you'll always have the gasket creep problem no matter which manifold is on the truck.

Cummins wanted $250 for a new stock one last summer; you can get an ATS manifold for <$450 if you shop around. Money better spent, IMO. Provided you HAVE the money
