Dodge has done it again. TSB 09-002-01 is supposed to prevent exhaust manifold bolts from loosening. I had found loose exhaust manifold bolts while enroute to Columbia, SC. I tightened them myself when I found them to be loose.

I took my truck to Dodgeland of Columbia to have the TSB performed. Because they did not find any loose bolts they refused to do the TSB!! Beware Dodgeland does not trust their customers.

Before I bring my truck to another Dealer to get this TSB done I will loosen at least one bolt.

Mine is going to the dealer in the AM for a missing exhaust bolt, and spacer... I wonder if missing counts as loose. . ;) I went to Cummins to buy the bolt and spacer. The bolt was onlya few $$, so I picked it up, but the spacer was about $28... So I said I'd see what the dealer can do. . (I made a spacer out of pipe to get me by, but its not as strong as the orginal. )

I'm glad I read your post, I did not know there was a TSB on the Manifold bolts. . I have it printed off, and I'm about to check the SN#, it will be posted on the window of my truck when it goes to the dealer in the AM. .

Is this the correct TSB #. . TSB 09-002-01

Thanks for the info. .

Goto the dealer, stop around the block, take one bolt out..... or just loosen them. . Poof you have the problem ;)

If they are going to be stubborn about it thats what I would do.

My ex dealer decided it was to much trouble to put the bolt clips on behind my cummins E brake so they tossed them in the trash. They ended up sending me the part so I could put it on myself and in my words to the manager, "do the job right".

I had 2 bolts and 1 spacer missing and 3 loose when I checked them at 6000 miles.

Good to watch/check

I had a problem with the bolts in the ATS manifold coming loose, acutally lost one. I never noticed the loss of pressure, but I heard a horrible whining one night at work when I started her up and flipped on the Ebrake. A quick check found one of the bolts to be MIA, now I check them whenever I open the hood. A small amount of anti-seize worked for me.

The dealers seem to stand firm on this one, as does Dodge. After some thoughts, I can't blame my Dealer too much if DC is being you-know-what by rejecting their claims for reimbursement under warranty - somebody's got to pay. Pursuing this issue a few months ago, I found how totally weak the Dodge "customer satisfaction" process is. When I asked to speak to a Supervisor, the Customer Service rep on the 1-800 line told me that was not an available option under their process. I was told basically that whichever rep you get on the phone gets final say, and if you don't like it get a lawyer. Why even bother to have a "Customer Service" line if that is your process and your attitude?

However, my dealer said it was a "$4 part" and he would install it for about 30 minutes labor, so this one may be a good one to just negotiate the price, bite the bullet and pay. For $30 it's hardly worth having to stop some night to retorque your bolts at the Interstate rest stop. I know this is not what folks want to hear, I didn't like it either, but I figure save your energy for the fights like the $4000 injection pump that should have been a warranty item.
