While drilling & tapping for EGT probe I noticed a crack in the exhaust manifold by the #3 cylinder. (3rd cyl back) I ran a search here on TDR & understand this is a fairly common problem. My question is has anyone with this problem got the dealer to cover it under the Cummins 100K warranty? Did they give you any crap for drilling the exhaust manifold? The crack is on the opposite side of the dividing wall in the exhaust manifold so I know the drilling had nothing to do with it.

TIA, Clay

I had my manifold replaced under warranty this summer. It stated right in my warranty book that the manifold was covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. I did not have the probe drilled, but I would think if you go to a decent dealer they can see that the crack is not caused by the probe. unless you drilled right into the cracked area, which it does not sound like you did. I had mine done at Dodge Town in Rapid City, I dropped it off at eight and had it back at noon.

If the dealer will not replace it and you don't want to spend the bucks for a ATS 3 piece manifold. Contact me. You can have the stock one from my 2000 (free). I have the ATS 3 piece on mine, great product, but a little pricey. :)

Manifold Replaced

FYI... .

Manifold replaced by dealer & covered under the Cummins 100K Warranty. Thanks for all the replies. I never would have known it was covered if I hadn't spent the measly $35 for my subscription to TDR & been able to get all this info.

That goes for the Lift Pump too!
