When you look at the exhaust manifold where it attaches to the turbo with the four bolts, is there a gasket there? I have been through the manual page by page and it doesn't show anything except the six gaskets that go between the engine and manifold. I've looked at the engine, exhaust and turbo sections and supplements. When I squirt soap and water on the interface area, I get small bubbles. There is no drop in boost showing on gage, so whatever leak is there is small. I want to fix it, but going to the dealer without knowing if there is a gasket and not having a part number can be trying. If there is a gasket, I'd assume its a copper one. Any info on part number would be helpful.

Picked up the gaskets today from Harbor Diesel. I will replace after the holidays. Do have a couple of questions. One the gasket has only one opening, I thought because of exhaust configuration it would have two separate openings? I'm just trying to make sure its the right one before I tear everything apart. Second is the gasket has rib on inner opening, does rib go up or down or it makes no difference. Finally, since its a thin copper gasket, should I apply a thin coat of silicone? Sorry for the dumb questions?

Only one opeing is necessary, it seal around the perimiter. The rib can go either way, makes no diffrence. I've never seen silicone used, it's a pretty high temp application I'm not sure it would work. You could go either way with that one.

Thanks Scott. I wasn't sure and didn't want to get into it and have truck down. I tend to agree with the silicon and the temps it will see there. The rib should seal it anyway as it is a crush type. Again thanks for the quick response.
