Injector replacement can of worms

Turbo problem

I took my truck to a friend who is a diesel mechanic to have him check a few things on the truck and as he was inspecting the motor pointed out I had exhaust leaks at #1 and #6. The leak at #6 is starting to compromise the short rubber hose on what appears to be a cooler line that goes into the firewall. Looks like the gasket is blowing out. My buddy cautioned that when I pull off the manifold it might be warped and require replacement and should therefore consider an aftermarket exhaust manifold for better performance. Geno's has Mopar, OEM Cummins and BD as options and some research disclosed another option made by AFE. No matter what I will add a stud kit and change the hoses. Do I have any other options? Any other suggestions or recommendations? TIA

Your friend is correct. That being said, there id NO reason to simply buy the oem manifold again.
Many people buy a 2 piece manifold like the BD or the AFE stainless one piece manifold which is heavily reinforced with additional webbing casts into it. Both are excellent options.
I went with the Steed Speed welded billet steel but be aware that it is substantially pricer then the others.

I'll be getting a BD 2-piece exh manifold installed Monday, 10th. Just thinking if the mating surfaces should have a bit of anti-seize brushed on? Is the 2-piece design rely on the carbon blow-by/build up to seal the joint? Jes saying....

Thanks all. Installed & good to go. Diesel Technician "Lance" used no anti-seize on bolts, nor manifold. When I looked surprised, he reported his experience of some bolts "working their way out/loose". My bolts were all tight & extracted normally.

P.S. Turbo seized 7 miles from home last night, returning from CMEP rally in Columbus, IN. It was a reconditioned unit, 3 years & 33K miles old. I'll be shopping for a replacement; OEM is 58mm in/out. I'll be TDR'g for idears, mainly what does it matter to have a larger turbo throughput without larger injectors to match?? Thanks again.

Conclusion: I wasn't present when Technician installed manifold or I would have directed use of anti-seize. No matter, "Clyde" will be 15 next month & I'm 73, so no worries here for a while, eh.

Turbo Update: Diesel tech reports turbo is OK! My Banks Exhaust Brake got stuck as I exited I-94, 6 miles from home. WHEW!!! Of course interested in the "failure mode" for future reference, esp since we're headed out again Sept. The Banks Exh Brake was advertised as "Zero Maint." & installed 10yrs & 182,500 miles ago. Finally some 'truth in advertising' from a vendor.

P.S. Since the engine runs @ idle, the Tech reports no codes came up. I would have lost a bet on that situation.

I shall consider this topic closed. Thanks for your time.
