Well, the weather was beautiful yesterday so I finally got around to removing factory muffler and squashed tail section. I cut out the old exhaust from just downstream of the t-case bend on back and replaced it with the 3" straight through Walker Muffler and the mandrel bent Walker rear pipe section. In a word I am impressed, the Walker pieces are really nice and all for about 85$ including clamps and other misc. parts.

The sound is smoother and more of a "big rig" sound to boot. :D It is nice to let the mighty cummins breath. Anyone who is considering getting rid of the squashed pipe go for it - I am really pleased.

Anyway, just an FYI... . Ken

KMC - must have been an exhaust weekend. Got mine done too. I decided to take Jones' tip on the Walker 54150 4" tailpipe instead of the 3" replacement. (thanks Jones!) Similar to yours, it's cut after the t-case, then 3" with an offset to meet the 3 x 4" adapter and then the tailpipe. All you see from the side or rear is 4" pipe.

Sounds awesome. Was wondering if I'd regret going with no muffler. Just how I wanted it, no regrets. Loud outside if I get on it, quiet inside with the windows up. Really, there is no noticeable increase in noise inside.

Can't believe the quality of the bends on this tailpipe. Smooooooth. Like you described yours, it must be mandrel bent. Pretty impressive, especially when you compare it to the stock piece side by side. For anyone considering replacement, I'd say buy a Walker tailpipe (3 or 4" whichever you choose) instead of having one bent. The typical exhaust shop could not do this kind of job, unless they had a mandrel bender and a good man to use it.

Yeah, and you sure can't beat the price! JFitzgerald, glad to hear yours went together well also. I just ordered a 3. 5" stainless tip from Summit to top in all off - sounds a little raspy with the 3" exit.

With the straight through muffler the noise is up a tad bit but not much really. At idle I can't really tell much of a diference. Under load and higher rpm's it sounds a bit louder and good!!!! Drove around last night with the windows down so I could listen. Mid to high 30's at night right now but I still didn't care... .

Does anyone have the Walker part # for a 3" or 3. 5" offset? I nave a straight pipe, but need an offset because the pipe hits the frame at certain RPMs. It is quite annoying. Thanks.

KMC - sounds familiar, I was out Sunday night with my rear slider open listening to the Cummins music and chugging through snow drifts. :D

Jeremy, have you checked with NAPA?
