Exhaust mods or not??

Help... I want to install the HOG 304 Stainless 4" system but I have a hard time with this droan that everyone keeps talking about... . Why haven't the manufactures of the aftermarket exhaust systems made the mods to their own. . like moving the muffler closer to the turbo?? etc... . Why is this still such a problem? Guess just wanting a push to either do it or not...

I have AFE system installed, after having the AIRaid system fall off twice. Seems their unit since it's plastic does not take well to being clamped and just pop's it off... P. O. S. Don't waste your money on the AIRAID unit just get the AFE... . Installed the TAG GREAT !!! all Amsoil synthetic installed which upped the MPG to 22-23 empty 17-18 towing 5,500 which is why I was wondering about the exhaust mod... if it's worth installing it???

Any help is greatly appricatiated.....

I have the hogs system that you are talking about and I love it. The drone is not bad I don't think. The sound of the hogs 4" exhaust is sweet. It lowered my temps by about 50-100 f. I don't notice the exhaust with normal driving but when you get on it, it sings. I'd say go for it. There are some pics in my readers rig if you want to take a look.

I am real satisfied with my HOG exhaust. I got two mufflers, an 18" and and a 24". I mounted the 18" right after the down pipe and turned it so "more" louvers faced the engine for more sound suppression. The other muffler is in the stock location. It sounds good, no real issue with the drone... I love the beefy SS Tip and I just got the 5. 5"...

We are currently experimenting with a new resonator to make it sound "droneless". The drone is a real odd quirk, some trucks have it others don't at all, that's what has prompted us to do some experimentation to see what can or can't be done about it.

KAltizer , I got my HOG about 4 months ago and I love it. If you choose to get the system go right through HOG and talk to Mike. I went through summit and got it cheap but mike said he could have matched it. The nice thing about getting it right from the factory is that you can swap out certain parts to get the look and sound you are looking for. As far as the drone . . with the base muffler from them is reversible for your choice of sound level. I tried it both ways and it was just too much for me and I like my exhaust loud!! The drone kicks in on the autos when your just cruising and it drops into to overdrive. Its not for very long but it is noticeable. I contacted mike back at HOG and I swapped out the base muffler for their augmenter series... Much better :-laf . . Also I have the right angle 5"tip which I think looks much better then the optional 5. 5" or 6". This system looks and sounds awesome!! Its worth the $ . . hope this helps

I have a HOGS with the Augmenter Muffler and 6" tip, you can get it this way if order from them direct (Mike) for no additional charge. It sounds great and has no DRONE. Its sounds almost stock crusing and authoritative when WOT. Good fit easy install.
