Exhaust Question

I just installed an MBRP cool duals system on my truck. While I was at it I also installed one of their cat delete pipes. Overall I was pleased with the installation and quality of the system. My problem is at normal driving, cruising, idling everything sounds great, but when I lay into the throttle at midrange and above the exhaust is wayy to loud the exhaust note changes. Almost doesn't sound like a diesel anymore. Anyways I'm looking to quiet the truck down a bit when I get on it, without restricting the exhaust too much. Was thinking about adding some sort of pre-muffler but am kinda lost when selecting something. Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Try putting the cat bck on.

a resonator or small muffler where the cat delete pipe is would help... something like a dynomax bullit or aeroturbine...

Quite a few people have complained about too much noise with the MBRP exhaust. Might do a search on it. Vaughn

Thanks for the replies. Really don't wanna put the cat back in if a high flow muffler would do the trick. Was looking at I think it was a Magnaflow muffler that is suppose to be high flow and quiet.

I noticed you said the duals system, wonder if anyone with the single could chime in?

I have a single MBRP on my 2004. It is a little louder than stock, but not obnoxious. Actually, I like the sound it makes, deep throaty rumble. My truck is an early 2004, didn't have a cat to begin with.

When you remove the cat the engien is going to talk quite a bit. The duals and singles are basicallt the same as far as total volume, you do get some sound out the drivers side so it is more prevelant there than with a single but the total is the same overall. The cats that are used to today are quite a bit better flowing than from just a few years ago, you usually lose less than a 25 degree increase EGT wise with the cat vs without. Put the cat back in, you'll love the sound then.

Why remove the cat when I got my 4" banks system they told me the cat only cost about 2 hp big deal
