Exhaust question

I have an 04 Quad Cab, is the stock exhaust 3. 5 or 4 inches? If I want to upgrade, should I get the 4 or 5 inch pipe and why?

Let's get technical. If you have a true '04 (305/555) you have 3 1/2 " from turbo to muffler and 4 after that. If you have '04. 5 (325/600) you have 4" all the way with addition of a catalytic converter in front of the muffler.



4" or 5"..... most will say you don't need 5" unless your making over 500 hp otherwise it's probable overkill. (my opinion) Noise becomes an issue also, drone as it's also known.



I have the 325/600 and have 4" MBRP Duals from the cat back and I really like the sound and reduction in egt's. The stock muffler is the most restrictive piece in our exhaust system.

Dieselhed is right, check to see what you have, if you do have a 2004. 5+ look at the MBRP performance replacement muffler. It's built from 409 stainless like the stock pipes are, has welded hangers so you can reuse the stock rubber mounts and is real easy to install. If you have a 2004, most folks look to get a complete system which MBRP has as well in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless as well as duals in all those materials too.
