very recently I put a 4 inch Bully Dog exhaust from the turbo back. I went with the straight pipe. No muffler or res.

Today at the local coffee shop some of the guys told me that I probably voided the warranty and even worse that without any back pressure that I am going to ruin the diesel engine because it needs the back pressure it gets from the muff and res.

I welcome opinion but if anyone knows factually I prefer to hear from you.

thanks guys:confused:

Tell them they are wrong, Diesels do not need back press. As a matter of fact the less back pressure the better...

As for the warranty issue, yes you probably voided the warranty on the exhaust system, but then again you replaced it. As for the warranty on the rest of the truck, I doubt it. I guess it depends on the dealer and how uptight they are. Some folks report that there dealers void the warranty for chaning anything, others report that there dealer installed the mods for them.

Good luck and Happy Bombing.

Cobra,

I screwed up and placed what I wanted you to see as a "new post" anyway here it is - http://dodgeram.org/tech/tsb/2000/D-00-16.htm also look for a post that says something about "Do I really need 4 inch exhaust" it's only a few days old. Has some info on it.

JR2 is correct I'm no expert, he's been around the block with diesels a few more times than I. It really makes sense if there is less in the way in the out tube, it's not as restricted and the exhaust gas can spin the turbo quicker hence allowing boost to increase quicker getting the power to the wheels sooner.

Those other guys are probably just jealous anyway ;) :D enjoy it!

Thanks for the info. I was looking for that post about the 4 inch exhaust this evening but I couldn't find it. Do you know which forum it is on?
