Centering wheel on 4X4's

Seems the idea for flow improvements are to get rid of bends, kinks, crushes in factory pipes, etc. Anybody know why they have to extend the exhaust beyond the rear wheel ( requiring that big hump over the axle with 2 - 90's and a complete 180). Have you all seen the photos of HVAC's truck with the 5" outlet in front of the wheel? Will this overheat the tires? He obviously overheats tires on a regular basis and wouldn't have the same concerns as us mortals. Having talked with him he thought it was probably only a noise and fume issue. Any other thoughts?

You could have your exhaust exit before the rear wheels, it wont hurt anything, once you are moving the exhaust blows clear of the tires anyhow.

Walker makes a 4" mandrel bent tailpipe P/N 54 150 that I've had good results from. For clearance I'm running stock 3" to just behind the rear x-member then through a 3" in/4" out resonater off of a 98 then 4" the rest of the way. Good sound, zero back pressure and it looks "stock" except for the size. Wasn't too pricey either.

Hope this'll give you another option to consider. Jones
