I am the proud owner of a 2011 Ram 2500 Pick-up with 6.7 Cummins engine with 6 speed AT. I have 85,000 miles on it. The "Required Service " came up on the dash panel. The Dodge dealer looked at it and said I needed to have the Exhaust Regeneration System serviced. He said this normally occurs at 75,000 miles but mine did not show up until now. He also told me that I would have to have the system checked which would take about 4 hours and cost $650. He said not to worry about it that I could drive it for another 10,000 miles if I wanted to. My question is " What should I do?" I talked to another owner who has twice the mileage and he has never had anything done to his. Thanks, John

The warning should appear at about 67,500 miles,It is to let you know it is time to clean the egr system and replace the ccv filter-not really the regen system

No. Less EGR equals much less soot loading. The DEF along with a catalytic reactor reduces the NOx instead of using heavy EGR like '07.5 thru '12 MY trucks.

Interestingly enough they do have the service required message pop up,and yes the egr valves are fairly heavily coated in soot. The egr valves ar a bit different than the earlier models

Bob, you just broke my bubble! Do I still want to trade my '03 for a '16?
