I've been looking into running boards for my dually and have come up with a plan#ad

Please tell me what you think#ad

My idea is to make the brackets for the step attach to the frame rails and support the step to run from the front mudflap area to the gaurd in front of the rear duals.

Allow enough space to run 4" straight exhaust along the bottom of the body to exit at the rear wheels (side pipes).

Use 409 Stainless with a 90 at the front and a turnout at the rear (bull hauler style).

Then use stainless diamond plate for the step portion.

I did sidepipes once. Had them on for a week and took them off. Mine weren't long enough and they were too loud in the cab. I've thought about doing it on this truck, but they would have to exit right in front of the rear tires and I'm afraid of what that might do to the aluminum wheels.

With the hydroformed frame rails of the 3rd gen trucks that you aren't suppose to drill or weld to the brackets become a little tricky. It can be done but I suspect you're in for more of a challenge than you anticipate.

I am tempted to do the same thing with my Pete using 6" with internal mufflers, would look cool and no more smoke tarps#ad

I can get the 4" 409 tubing from Donaldson, but need to find a source for the elbow and turnout.

I'll keep looking#ad

Actually, I thought that this might make it easier, TMI (Trailer Marketing) does some pretty good work in OKC#ad

Let's see... if I used the 5" from the Pete on my Dodge, then I would have to get the 6" for the Pete#ad
