Had a flow through muffler installed with the intentions of upgrading the fuel injectors on my 1999 auto 4x4. The exhaust system was installed with 3" pipes to the muffler. My question is, "What is the difference between the 3" and the 4" exhaust system"? I have a 11,000 lb. , 37 ft. 5th wheel which I pull occasionally.

... . 'bout an inch.

But on a serious side, if you use the formula to calculate the cross section of a pipe the difference is more dramatic. Remember pie R squared? Using the 3" you have a radius of 1. 5 inches. Square that and it's 2. 25 inches. With the 4" your radius is 2 inches and back to 4 inches when squared.

It doesn't matter what "pie" is (~3. 14) you can tell that the 4" inch pipe is about 80% larger.
