It depends, is your engine stock? With a stock engine it won't destroy itself with overfueling so it's not really a concern. My '05 is stock and post turbo I have seen temps as high as 1300 degrees pulling up a long grade in hot weather although that's not the norm. Most of the time it rarely goes above 1150 or so pulling long grades. Level towing it may be as low as 550 and normally runs around 750-850. The guys with modified engines will be able to tell you what are safe temps if you are running a modified engine. I left this one stock since it had plenty of power to tow my trailer (unlike my 2nd gen).

Iv got a stock 05.

Having my EGT probe preturbo, I had temps around 1200* pulling out of Denver but most of the time it doesnt get that hot.

Rest of the trip the temp was in the 8-900 range.

I would speculate that as lokg as the temp stays under 1300* you should be ok.

I did find that with running a Amsoil dropin filter,

the temps, whether pulling or empty, are lower by about 50*

Hope this helps you out.

1,300°F post turbo seems too hot for me. I know the 05 run hotter than my 04, but I limit my EGT to 1,250°F PRE-TURBO.

I believe the temperature drop across a loaded turbo can be around 400°F.

I hit just shy of 1600* pre tonight. Stupid weather turned cold and I can't get boost up again. Running stock with Juice completely out I'll run hotter than with the Juice on "0". The extra boost really drops the EGT's.

Your fine for short periods of 1500+*. I hit 13-1400* daily. Hasn't hurt me...

... yet.

On 04. 5 and up motors, you are able to keep the motor at 1,400* pre-turbo. All earlier motors are 1,250* pre-turbo. Flashes above 1,400* is fine because the surface temps take a little while to change.
