New gauge on my 04. 5. I've only taken it on a couple of short runs. The truck doesn't usually get used unless we have a load for it. The highest reading for a temp was 500 degrees, I had to find this incredibly steep hill and lug it up it to get that, it's usually less. The high here has been 50 degrees outside. What kind of temps do you guys usually have with out a load on short runs. The motor made it up to operating temp. I have a hand held leaser temp gauge. The reading on the thermal coupler was about the same, don't seem right to me.

Even if the gauge was mounted after the turbo, at the most thats still a 300 degree difference (800 pre turbo) and that is just wayyy low. My 06 hits 1050 pre turbo with a good stomp of the pedal to about 75-80mph. I see about 600* around 70mph going down the freeway. Id say check your connections and if they all are correct... call the supplier you bought it from.

Bone stock (even before intake/dropped muffler) I could hit 1300-1400 degrees in outside temps of 70 or so... I can hit 400-500 degrees (when warmed up) sitting in park and just blipping the throttle... 04. 5s and up run quite a bit warmer than some of the older gen trucks - I would definitely call your supplier...

Best of luck!
