As my sig states, just bought a new '02 HO 6-speed truck, plan to use it towing our 5er thru Sierra and similar grades. My old truck usually ran a max EGT of 1250 with the mods listed below. I see a number of comments over in this forum concerning EGT's on these newer trucks - do they tend to run hotter temps outta the factory than the older trucks did - or is it just the bombed ones that are a concern? My '91 was supposed to be kept below 1300* pre-turbo - is that still the case with the later trucks?

ALSO interested in eventually adding one of the better aftermarket chips to my truck - and probably move the Powershot 2000 propane setup over from the old truck - what combo of propane and chip has been used most successfully?

My dads 02 H. O. has seen 1300 degrees (completely stock except for a straight through 4" exhaust and 4"inline BD exhaust brake)

This was while towing our 16000# 5wheel up the sikiyuos in Northern Ca.

The truck dynoed at 240. 7 hp. (8hp. from 4" exhaust) Respectable power for a stock truck.

I wouldn't worry about any temps. below 1400 degrees. I have run 1350-1400 on long grades for 4 years now with no problems. (yes I have pulled the head and pistons look perfect with 180,000 miles on them).

Garry.

Stock, our ETH/DEE would see 1300 degF pre-turbo EGT's towing our 5ver. With the BHAF, Edge EZ with boost elbow and Jardine 4" exhaust, max EGT while towing has dropped to 1100 degF.
