Well, its exhaust system time. My question is simple, for essentially the same price of the Jannetty aluminized exhaust (and others), I could get a 4" stainless replacement system from Summitt. Anyone have experience with the Summitt system? Someone I know installed the Summitt on his '95 and said it was straight forward without issues.

Thanks in advance.

the summit sounds good. i didn't know they had it in stainless, but i would bet that it's 409 which is cheap and basically pointless over alumilized. the 304 is the good stainless (the better, the less a magnet sticks to it).

Matt at PDP has some options you may like. give him a call 515-986-5801.

I agonized over the Summit exhaust as a choice too. It is 4 in T305 for $499 (SUM-673103). Heres the link:

I like that it has band clamps... wouldn't do exhaust clamps if you ever want to remove it again. I don't like that it has the hanger rods welded to the clamps instead of the pipes like MBRP or Magnaflow. Also I wasn't sure if the muffler was quiet. Summit could not tell me the length. You will want around 30 inches or better for noise. So I went with the T409 MBRP and bought three SS T305 band clamps for $10 apiece from NAPA. The fit of the MBRP is great since the rods were welded on to the pipes... It fix perfectly onto the stock rubber donuts. If any of your rubber donut hanger thingys are bad you'll need to get them seperately.

The best price I got was around $440 from www.xtremediesel.com... FREE Shipping too. I'd go for the T305 if I had to do it again. About $300 more bucks. Here is a link to the exhaust MBRP:

Its about $750 for the T305.

Oh. . you will need a new rear tailpipe hanger for any 94-98. 5 truck. Most of the exhausts you see will not tell you that, but they are made for 98. 5 and up which have a different tail pipe hanger than our 97 has. It was fun drilling the holes in the frame to accept the hanger. I'll send you a pic if your interested on mine. I've heard you can get the Dodge 98. 5 and up rear tailpipe hanger and it will work too, but you existing one is not even going to work. I got my bracket at DPP for under $30... here's the link:

Go with band clamps whatever you pick. If you need a NAPA PN let me know.

Good luck

For what it's worth ($0. 00), I went with the Jegs exhaust. After one salt filled winter it looks like it would polish up.

Just curious... . Was it T305? And how much did it cost with shipping?

I bought my 4" Stainless MBRP from Diesel Performance Parts (DPPI). I don't remember what I paid but it was a breeze to install. The best thing about working with DPPI was the customer service. They were outstanding to work with as I had a couple of issues. All were handled very quickly and I would highly recommend them. They will also (I believe) beat competitors prices. Anyhow, back to the exhaust. I bought the T409 and it came with a 5 year warranty. DPPI has a video on it's website where you can hear what the exhaust "should" sound like. The write-up for the MBRP talked about the exhaust sound in the cab being near factory levels. I think that is true. It doesn't take much throttle to get that exhaust to bark. I am the kind of guy that does not like loud but I like deep tone. This system delivered. Especially after 2,000 RPM. The system changes tone somewhere in this RPM range and sounds truly mean. I would recommend this system. But give DPPI a shot because they are truly excellent to work with.
