Ok, I did a search and didn't get anything back about exhaust to so here is the question.

I am thinking of replacing my exhaust from turbo back. I don't want the truck to get louder than stock except for WOT. But when just idling or going through my neighborhood I don't want extra loudness.

I see you can get a Mangnaflow 5" for $550 or I have a guy I know that can make me muffler back 8" for $225.

I would think to get any gains from exhause it would need to be turbo back for effectiveness.

Is this true?

any recommendations?

2 yrs. ago I did a CAT back with a magnaflo muffler and increased the size to 5 in. from that point.

Yesterday I decided I wanted it just a little deep so put on a Voltec (or something like that ) for $200. I just do not see a bit of difference in the sound and of course I will not see anymore in horespower either. I am going to put on my cold air intake at I know it will help with the horsepower and mileages as I took it off while it was under warranty as the dealer told me that if something happended to the turbo with the CAI it would not be covered so I put the stock system back on. So, unless you go with a straight pipe I don't think you;ll you will notice a profound difference in the sound.

I have a Magnaflow 5" turbo back system on my truck. Idling it sounds real nice, it is pretty loud when you put your foot in it. I get a lot of compliments on how it sounds. I like it pretty well. I got on good price on it from 'All About Diesels'.
