Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Exhausting Question ???

I need some advise on an Exhaust system. Currently I have a 4" straight pipe, which is just too loud and annoying. the wife made the comment last night about that she heard a delivery truck in the neighborhood from 2 blocks away, until she relized it was me. Anyway, I need to quiet this down and not lose any of the free flow of the current system. I was looking at the Magnaflow 4" straight thru design muffler, and there is a local shop that can bend 3" pipe. My idea is to have them install this muffler and then put on a 4" to 3" Y and run dual 3" tail pipes. Would this work in keeping back flow to a minimum?

Yes it would. The easiest would be to buy a straight through 4" muff like a donaldson or others and just install it in the current system.
