I tow quit much with my flatbed bumper pull where I do a lot of dead heading. The rattle from my hitch are getting on my nerve, so I'm looking for several solutions to this problem. I have been thinking of drilling and welding a lock bolt on my OEM hitch, but my hitch and 6" drop are slightly under rated for my trailer so I'm thinking of upgrading everything to class IV.

The two solutions I have found so far that looks good for my use so far is Quiethitch The Silence Speaks For Itself or Softride, Inc. || Tightening Ball Mount & Lock || Stop receiver hitch rattle and clank while towing

From my point of view the later quietride design looks better since the wedge tightens the shank in the whole lenght inside the receiver instead of just four points on the quiethitch.

Is there any here that have any experience with any of these products?

Also is there any good tips on where to buy high quality class IV hitch on the net? I've been looking at a Valley or Draw-Tite on Trailer hitch, hitches and bike rack (800)298-8924.

This is how my rig looks when I'm out towing.

Since there is no industry standard on hitch classes there are those on this forum who would say you have a class IV already. The stock receiver is rated for 500 pounds tongue weight 5000 pounds trailer weight (500/5000) without a weight distribution hitch and 1000/10,000 with a W/D. Here is how Drawtite rates theirs. Read the page on hitches and receivers. [+] DRAW-TITE Corporate Website [+] You are over the 500 pound limit in the picture so I would suggest you look at the receiver mounts for damage where the mount bends and bolts to the frame. Mine literally tore after being overloaded.

If you do not want to buy a W/D setup you need to look at the hitch weight ratings of whichever receiver you buy. I'd recommend the model 41923 Notice the rating.

Not much response here so I had to take my chances :) I ended up with a Valley class IV that is rated to 10 000 pounds and 1000 pounds tongue weight, 12 000 pounds with W/D. I liked their design better over the Draw-Tite. I also went with the quietride 6" drop and a 8000 pound ball. So now I will only have to wait until it arrives here in Norway.

Regarding my trailer I hardly think I'm to heavy on the tongue. This is Norway and we use light trailers (mine is slightly over 1500 pounds) and we use those damn surge brakes so the trailer is balanced with the tandems far ahead. Max tongue weight here is 300 pounds, but they recommend 150 pounds for all trailers (I know it's bad) I don't even have to use my front support when I unhook the empty trailer, it stands straight without the winch mounted.

I will give a report when I have tried my new drop
