Have a brother who is wanting to put some more power on his 96 5spd cummins. He is looking for about 325-350 hp. He tows often and just wants a little boost in power for the cheapest amount of $$$$. Everything is stock right now except for the exhaust ( 4" ) and the clutch which is a Luk ProGold, he has boost and pyro gauges in it also.

He is thinking a cam plate and injectors, but I don't really know the right combo.

Any info would be apreciated. Thanks

#10 plate and bump his timing upto about 15-16*. They'd both help control his EGTs when towing, esp. the timing adjustment. Disable the wastegate also and turn the star wheel up.

#10 plate,3k gov springs,,Timing 16. 5 to17. 5 degrees, set wastegate to 34 psi,set the gov arm to the fueling curve you desire. Check to see if it is a EGR motor. If it is update to a 95 intake air horn and cap off the exhaust manifold. Don't forget the intake upgrade. If he comes up with more money invest in a turbine housing and a set of 370s. Drive Happy!:D

The star wheel is inside the top pump cover. (also known as an AFC housing) The cover is right behind the air horn. Theres an 8mm plug on top of it. Take out the plug and the star wheel is right there. The star wheel adjusts how quickly the fuel comes on. You turn it all the way forawrd to get max fuel quickly. You can also move the cover towards the front of the truck to help also.
