Well i figure it's about time to change out the ol' coolant. Thinking about going with Caterpillar's ELC coolant. Anyone have any issues with going with ELC coolant from the green? Picked up a T-stat from the dealer just in case the original was a bit sludged up, for $45. That'll be the last time i go to the dealer for a cummins part. Hopefully i don't need it. Oh btw, who's going to buy the "Juice" for their second gen. trucks when it comes out? I found a nice article on it here. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/brandpages/dodge/131_0407_ram/ Oo. :D

I ran the Cat ELC in my 2nd gen for 2 years and no problem at all. I don't think anybody that has switched from the green to the Cat ELC has had any problems, as far as I know. I was completely happy with it.

Switched from old green to Rotella ELC red coolant. No problems. Just make sure you flush block & heater core to get ride of as much green as possible.

I used the Fleetguard Compleat ES, the guys at the KW dealer said it was compatabile with any old stuff left over and wouldn't cause any gunking as a result, don't know if the same goes for the Caterpillar stuff, I like it, it runs cool here in AZ and besides its a nice pretty blue... .....

I don't know if its worth the hassle (shipping, etc... ), but I have a few friends that work for Yancey Caterpillar, and I will be working there as soon as I'm done with "training". I'm sure I can get a really good deal on that stuff. And anything else that says "CAT" on it.

Thanks for the advice. Ring Power Cat is about 5 min. down the road. I'll have to stop their this week and price it out. My old man runs it in his Pete and says it costs about 10 bucks a gallon. Says it's well worth it. :D

I have run the Chevron Delo ELC in mine for the past 4-5 years and no problem. As a suggestion, change your water pump and hoses when you switch. It is cheap insurance and will save you the coolant when either fails after the conversion. If the hoses have micro fissures that are sealed by the silicates in the green stuff when you switch to coolant that uses organic acid technology instead it will sometimes wash the silicates out of the fissures andf you will have weeping or leaking hoses. Many blame it on the coolant, but it is just old hoses. The water pump? Well, they don't cost much and if the seal in it is already damages by the silicates then it is also just a matter of time and it will leak or fail. I hate doing cooling system services and the 750,000 mile sevice life of the Delo suits me just fine.
