comrade - drive it until your factory warranty is almost up. if you have a problem child truck, then buy a warranty ....

just my .02 cents

cheers!

I won’t own one without. The last truck I had the extended warranty and paid for itself about 3 to 4 times over once the original one was done. A few simple things can add up real fast. For me if I plan on keeping it past the original, I will buy it.

My truck is in for extended warranty work as we speak. I have used the extended warranty twice (this is the second time). I don't see it paying for itself.

None of the warranties offered to me so far would cover any of the emission control systems. The price of the warranty is the same as a delete.

My truck was in last summer for a fuel module leak which had nothing to do with emissions. And is currently in for an inoperable rear window.
Max Care is covering it all except for a $100 deductible. I hope they change the NOx sensor because it keeps lighting up a "NOx out of range" MIL/CEL.

He said that the NOx sensor was covered by max care. ..... But he might actually find out when he researches it in his computer that it might be covered under the fed emissions warranty. I'm at 5.1 years of ownership and 48,991 miles.

I bought max care out of fear of all the electronics in the new trucks. $2000+ for nothing.
Thanks to everyone for your responses. Iam getting my new truck tomorrow, think I will pass on the extended warranty. If it was an additional 8 years to the one that comes with the truck but it is not, basically I would be forfeiting the factory one.

just an f y i - the finance guy lost his mind when i declined my warranty. tried to tell me what a dumb decision i had made by not purchasing the extended warranty. therefore, i assume that the dealers make quite the profit on selling these. congrats on the new truck comrade! cheers!

Same here. When I pointed to the disclaimer that the emissions system was considered a wear item and wouldn't be covered I said get me a warranty that covers this and I'm in. No can do... Also, the offers that I'm receiving via email are less than the prices that I was quoted in the dealership. 0% interest if I want to finance it too. They were offering to roll it into the loan and then I would have to pay interest on that too.

I'm a little peed off that my dealer is telling me that my max care warranty is not paying for a rental while my car is in the shop for warranty repair

If the repair is related to the MaxCare coverage I would think it should be covered, if its some other warranty repair not related to maxcare then I could see that not being covered. At which point the dealer might have a loaner program in place, I found it really hard to find the documents of my extended warranty online and had to wait till it arrived to read all the fine print.

Mine appears to cover 1st day @$35, and max of $175. For covered repairs only, and only if the dealer does not have a loaner system, or something like that. But would not be surprised they never allow coverage.

I purchased Max Care warranty initially for my new 5500 and cancelled in within 30 days after I read the entire contract and saw how much it did not cover. Got a full refund. I did purchase a the Max Care warranty on our new gasser Ram with unlimited mileage AND lifetime coverage to original owner. There's so much electronics on the new 1500, I believe it will pay for itself over the lifetime of the truck. FCA does not offer this warranty on any of the diesel models.

Cheers, Ron

That is for sure a good offer, would buy in a blink of an eye if we would get it over here

I bought the extended warranty on my 2014 SRW 3500 aftermarket through the dealership in Michigan that offers them, I think it is 8 years or 120,000 miles. i already had a failed GPS and now a failed radio/control module (another $1000). So maybe it will pay for itself, we shall see. Not sure how much the GPS would have cost me if I had to pay for it. Also not convinced the subsequent radio fail is not related to the replacement of the GPS since they are intimately related.

I would never buy a new vehicle without the longest term warranty available. No one will ever convince me otherwise. When I purchased my ‘14 I was told by multiple people that I wasted money purchasing the warranty. These new trucks are so much more reliable it’s not needed. Well, the results are in and the test proves that was a lie. If I would have listened to the nay sayers and not purchased it, I would have had to pay around $6K out of pocket to date. And that’s not counting the parts I changed myself with quality aftermarket products cause the factory replacement was the same garbage that just failed. My problems started right after the 36K mile warranty ran out, so to me, it was well worth purchasing.

Regarding loaners or rental cars. I have had them on three or four occasions now, and was never questioned. Always a rental, and once for a second day. I just say, I need a loaner/rental as specified in my MaxCare policy, and they do it. All for recalls. SnoKing

Yeah. He was wrong and was too lazy to call back the warranty people to get me a car. I wrote that on my review of his service.
