I am thinking about getting the extended warranty for my new 08. I am looking at the Chrysler Warranty coverage. Anyone have any comments as to how satisified you are with this warranty? Any other suggestions? The dealer from whom I bought the truck is pushing Master Teck. But they appear to be quite expensive.

Just remember its NOT a warranty. its a SERVICE CONTRACT and very differant then the term warranty,None of those policys are bumper to bumper. They are a INSURANCE policy against breakage. It operates like insurance. Think of it as such. I'd always stick with the factory plans. THEY have your best interest in mind. Its THEIR vehicle and THEIR policy and THEIR customer(you)where the AFTERMARKET policys do not. With the LONG warrantys the vehicles come with look at the coverage and determine if you want the gamble of the policy. Most repairs in 100k are LESS then a policy but not all.

One thing to think about is the cost. If you keep your truck up and haven't had a problem, you have to cosider the financial implication between having and not having the policy. I bought one with an 05 truck for my wife, haven't had an ounce of problems, and more than likely been a whole lot closer to having it paid for if not for the extra cost of the warrenty on the payment.

I think if I had one of the new 6. 7's, I'd purchase the Maxcare Dodge one but from a discount contract provider mentioned here. There's a few dealers who heavily discount the genuine policy. You can apply for a service contract up to 3yr/36,000 miles. Milk the inclusive stock one, then buy the extended service contract when you know you've got a good truck.

Even though I am capable of doing ALL the work on the truck it may ever need I bought the contract due to high parts prices. If you buy the contact right it will only take a few repairs to break even. The Max care will cover most items,no trim or wear parts. Any major A/C repair will run close to $1k and contollers are up their as well. If you have a dealer you like the decision will be that much easier. If you travel the service contract makes that much more sense. With first day rental coverage you can still get around

I agree with DPKetchum and wish to add that the best time to purchase Extended Warranty, or a Service Contract is at the time you purchase the vehicle. Also, these contracts are highly negotiable. I purchase mine from the dealer for less then half of the asking price.

Nice!

You've got the the best of all worlds: a discounted policy, plus it pays you to fix your own truck right!:)

Thanks folks for all of your replies. Actually the main concern I have is the six speed auto transmission. Does anyone out there have a though as to how trouble free the transmission will be. The only heavy use of the truck is towing 13,500 lbs of 5th wheel 12,000 miles a year. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I have not seen any of the 6spd autos fail yet,I have seen a couple cel's though none transmission related
