Have almost 36K on truck. Is extended warranty recommended? Have had rear axle oil seal replaced and tie rod ends replaced by dealer. Any opinions or experience with issues beyond 36K? Any 3rd party warranty recommendations?

Thanks,

Woodsie

I'm in the same situation. Thinking about an extended warranty also. FWIW, I had a Warranty Gold extended warranty on a couple of vehicles. Although Warranty Gold is still in business writing policies, the underwrighter they used for my policies went bankrupt, leaving the warranty worth nothing. I think I will stay away from any 3rd party warranties if I do get something.

I would think twice about an aftermarket company. I bought into Warranty Gold (good deal if they would have held up thier end of the contract. ) I got all of my money back from my credit card company as the WG's backers went belly up 5 days after purchase. Here a couple of disscusion threads:

WG- bad news

I might consider another aftermarket company, but once bitten, twice shy.

How is it that you have come to deal with warrantee companies?

Not trying to pry, but is it through your bussiness? Have you purchased any?

Thanks for the info.

extended warranty

Well worth it, on my 97 I had front u joints, replaced. Starter replaced. Front timing cover seal replaced, " big bucks". Just had all of the ball joints and tie rods replaced. Transfer case rear seal replaced. I have 90K miles on it. I told the dealer that I had a mild fueling mod upfront, no problems! I have an extended warranty through the dealer, the insurer is National. .
