Does anyone know of a company making extra capacity or add on fuel tanks for a 4x4, short bed, crew cab (not a mega)?

There is a company in the Dakota's that mwke aluminum ones but I am still trying to find their name. Reg's up here now require double wall construction

Why would you need a double wall aux tank when every OEM tank is single wall. I know that governments make laws rather then sense, but this reg just sounds stupid. I suppose that a border check would require me to drain my aux tank? Or mayby better yet, just turn around and head south.

Oo. there is no doubt we get more gov't than we can afford & the dipsticks in govt employ are always looking for ways to justify their existence. On an even stupider note a self contained diesel generator on it's own trailer has to have dangerous goods markings even though most of them have less fuel & batteries that a highway tractor.

Just try to comply with the regs cuz thinking about them will make you NUTZO

Short answer, transfer flow. I see you are in South Bend. I think Dan's Hitches in Elkhart is a transfer flow dealer. You can also check with Classy Chassie in Valpo on Rt. 30. The handle American Tank and Toolbox.

Both Transfer Flow and ATTB have web sites.

I have a long bed, and had the 55 gallon replacement fuel tank from transfer flow installed.

Good Luck.

You are right that Dan's handles these, BUT only for a long bed. I am putting a sleeper rig on the truck and don't have the bed space for an aux there. It has to be in the truck. The transfer flow 54 gal. extends into the wheel well opening on a short bed. I don't know about the ATT but every other company I have looked at positions theirs the same way.

Ideally, I would like to get a tank to fit where the spare tire goes. But I understand that this is no longer allowed?? even though it is between the frame rails; unlike the transfer flow that is between the skin and the frame.

On the new 07 cab and chassie, the small fuel tank is where the spare tire is suppose to be. Maybe... get one from Dodge????????

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were looking for one that would go in the bed of the truck... ... opps... . old age... ... .

AH HA Did some checking & if a slip tank is plumbed in & part of the fuel system then single wall is OK. If the slip tank is set up with a pump then you are transporting fuel.
