I have been looking at a 94ctd to purchase and the owner said it had a special order extra heavy rear end. It does appear to be more massive than the stock rear end and he said it also had much larger rear brakes. Does anyone know what rear end this could be and what the advantages or disadvantages are?

My $0. 02

Probably a Dana 80. Autos had a 70 but my '96 5 gear with a camper package came with an 80 with 3. 55's. 3500's also came with an 80.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Mike

If the rear end in this one looks like the rear end in the '98 you're looking at then everything is as it shold be. They will both be Dana 80's.

If this truck has something else in it then I'd definately want more info on what was actually put in there, why it was put there,as well as verify that you can easily find parts for it should the need arise.

Good Luck,

Mike

You can call the parts department at the dealer, give them the VIN and they can tell you which differential it has as well as brakes.
