My friends D-max has never gotten as good econmy as his Dodge did,and the gm is a lighweight truck next to the Dodge,at least 400 lb lighter. Now that his D-max has 15k on it,about 1/3 towing, its safe to say its broken in. Dodge got 17-19 D-max gets 16-17 empty. I thik he's gettting rid of it,if anyone wants a excab 4x4,swb LT Pewter, med grey interior, loaded was 40,300 original sticker. I think it runs great-he thinks its to slow,so he's going back to a Dodge again. he says the Chevy is a car-he wants a truck.

I really loved the "he says the Chevy is a car-he wants a truck" part!!!!!!! #ad

I don't know a single person who has owned a Dodge----gas or diesel who hasn't had a transmission or rear end replaced. I race cars and see plenty of those trucks and every one has had problems. Even Dodge guys admit that the first thing to do when you buy a BRAND NEW DODGE is to get the trans rebuilt. How are you gonna justify buying a truck like that? It doesn't make sense to me. You should'nt have to replace a transmission as soon as you buy it.

No way does Dodge make a quality product-they just buy a good motor to put in their trucks.

Wow, I didn't realize that all of us have had to have our rear ends or transmission's replaced!! #ad

One of my best friends just got his new Duramax/Allison, Ext. Cab, short bed earlier this week. I think the truck runs pretty strong for stock. I agree that it will take the rest of the competition in drag racing games stock to stock. But last Saturday night my buddy wasnt sayin a whole lot when him and I were on the interstate coming home from Cincinnati. He pulled out around me as soon as we got outta town, I dont know why b/c I was the one with the radar detector so anyway I just stayed right behind him till we were almost back to our good old country town then when I seen there wasnt any cars coming down the other side of the highway I absolutely blew his doors off and at the time we were already runnin 80 and It was like he was sittin still. He didnt like it too much when we pulled into the truck stop here in town and I asked him how fast he was goin, he said it governed out at 97 mph and I was like, "d**n, I had my speedometer buried at 120... lol. " He's proud of his new ride and I dont blame him b/c it's a really nice truck. The interior in his truck is extremely nice. He ordered every option you could get on it. But he knows that he cant hang with a hot runnin Cummins. All of us like given him a hard time b/c he's the only one of the 13 of us that doesnt have a newer Cummins. But it's all good.

BlackDog- I was reading you sig and had a question. Why do you have a high stall TC? I have never herd of that on a cummins.

Well basically there is not alot of difference between the low and high stall except the low stall will lock up quicker. But I went with the high stall b/c of the 3:55 gear, if I had 4:10's it would bring the quickness out even in lockup. I have a manual lockup switch so therefore I can lock it up whenver I want. Basically it's personal preference of what you like to do with it. Hope this helps some. Feel free to ask anymore questions that you have. Thanks !!

JKloppe , i'll assume you FLOORED it when he got next to you ? if so the TC unlocked and it was all over . i had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago against a banks powered PSD , silly me .

if you drive it properly the stock TC will survive behind 275's and a VA , mine had 25k on it before i went to DTT , alot of 1/4 mile testing with a HOT PE . but after i did the trans i realized that i should have done it first , but good thing i didn't as i would have had to buy the parts twice when DTT hit the seen .

by the way a stock 2000 2500 4x4 will do 18. 5 @ 73. 71 mph , the Dmax has more cubes and HP , i hope for its sake its faster stock VS. stock .

i need to meet up with that goatman clown , i haven't had to replace my rearend and don't know anyone else that had to , well one guy but thats what he wanted to do for a gear ratio swap .

If you want to compare apples to apples, what better way than $$ to $$. From what I have been seeing out there, Duramax's are about $5-8K more than the Dodge/Cummins combo. So lets see here $5-8K in BOMB vs stock Duramax,= same $$. Which would you rather drive?
