Currently run an EZ. Just installed Rips 4" Exhaust & a AFE ProGuard 7 Intake Sys... .

My question is will my stock HX35 turbo be enough turbo when I add DDII's tomorrow to my truck? Will I have heat problems?

Thanks,

Clay:confused:

You will be fine with that combination. i ran the EZ with DD2 80hp with my 02 which has a HY-35 9cm exhaust housing work great. killer stop light to stop light. you HX-35 has a 12cm which will be cooler than the 9cm.

See my signature. With the mods shown and stock injectors, maximum pre-turbo EGT was around 1100 degF @ 30 PSIG boost. After adding the DD2's, maximum pre-turbo EGT is around 1225-1250 degF @ 34 PSIG boost. I'm still running the HX35W-12.

I can hit 1350 EMPTY. This is because I am over 6000 feet elevation, and that has a big effect.

Nontetheless, the only way I can hit 1350 empty is when I am into it hard in 6th gear, and I watch it creep up to 1350 as the speedo clears 90-95 or so.

It's about the real-world limit for the stock turbo.

Update...II's are in!

Done! Rob Hanson at the NW Bombers gave me help installing my DD II's & WOW! Thats all I can say! With the new exhaust & now the II's this thing is awesome. Sounds like a Freightliner & smokes like a freight train. Gotta change my EZ setting to mid level hoping to control the smoke a little bit. Power is awesome! Can't wait to dyno & see if I hit the 330 HP mark.

I believe they would smoke by themselves. You would however need a boost fooler or EZ so you don't create an over-boost code.

Clay

I get pretty good off-boost smoke with the EZ plugged in and the DD2's. If I unplug the EZ's CANbus cable, leaving it in the "boost fooler" mode, pre-turbo EGT drops back to around 1100 degF with little or no smoke.

I put my II's in over the winter. They smoke a little in the warmer weather, but not bad. Also, I have no boost fooler and have set NO codes. My turbo is still wastegated at 21psi from the factory so until I get an EZ or Comp, I won' t set any codes. Just smokes a good bit at WOT.
