A friend wants to remove his Ez, temporarily, but would like to leave the elbow in place, the one that came with the EZ. Any problem in doing this?

With the EZ removed, the boost fooler section that plugged onto the MAP sensor is no longer functional. If he gets heavy on the fuel, he will likely throw an overboost code.

The best part of the Edge EZ is that it can be unplugged and the system returned to stock configuration(wires and plugs). The only tell tale sign would be the place where the box is mounted. I mounted one on the underhood fuse box and it looks very clean. . With everything plugged back in there should be no codes.

I'm with rusty on this one. If you remove the ez, you lose the boost fooler function, but if the ez's elbow is still in place, it will build more than 20 pounds of boost(if you get on it hard enough) and an overboost code will be set.

He is not adding any additional fuel. I've ran stage 2 injectors without my PS boost module without setting any codes.

My stock ETH would pull 22 PSIG boost when towing our 5ver. At that point, one or both of two things happen:

1. The ECM defuels the VP44 to limit boost.

2. The turbo wastegate opens to limit boost.

If 1 happens before 2, I agree - no codes would be set. If, however, 2 happens before 1 in stock configuration, an overboost code would likely be set since the EZ elbow won't allow the wastegate to open until 30-32 PSIG boost.

He may indeed not set a code, but he shouldn't be surprised if he does, either! Why not take all of 5 minutes and reinstall the stock elbow just to be sure?
