What will the exhaust temps run on a HO, pre turbo, on the "3" setting, also on the "4" setting pulling a heavy trailer. This is with the Edge EZ.

Are you sure you are asking about the "EZ"? I thought only the Comp was adjustable, unless I missed something.

Actually it has 4 settings, the first ones out did have a "secret" 5 & 6 setting but they are gone on the current model.

All I can tell you is EGT's on level 4, that is all that I run. This is pulling a 40' trailer and the GCVW is 30,000#. Also I have the DPP exhaust and Ram Air III intake.

Basically the EGT seems to be pretty much in line with RPM, meaning the higher RPM you run the hotter it gets. I can run from a dead stop up through 4th gear at full throttle shifting at 3000 rpms with out hitting 1150 deg. When I get into fifth at about 60 mph it is at 2800 rpms I believe and the EGT start to get over 1200 deg and I grab 6th. Pulling big hills at full throttle in 6th at 70 mph or so they seem to peak out around 1100 deg.

This said don't try running one with out a EGT guage, also installing the boost elbow that comes with the EZ will help your EGT.

I don't think 5&6 are gone. I've had mine since July and I have those levels . Oo.

It was on back order at my local dealer, so I know it wasn't laying around in his shop since early on.

Also, how does the elbow help EGT's?

The only thing I see the elbow doing is delaying the wastegate a little. The small hole will take a little longer to allow the 24PSI to pass through, but evenually it will!

Pinch off the wastegate all together :D

Where are the 5-6 settings? Mine has pins cut off and I heard that they got rid of them so I just assumed that is why the pins were cut.

Also with the bost elbow you create more boost pressure. More boost pressure equals lower EGT, to a point any way, I have heard that over 40psi you start getting the reverse effect. . Your numbers are wrong, mine will run 38psi of boost under full load, and hold it there as long as you hold your foot down.

If the boost elbow didn't do anything for you do you really think they would go through the trouble of making and having one come with the box.

They are the 1st and 2nd pins on the right side set of three for 6.

The 1st pin on the right side set for 5.

The only snipped pins on mine are on the left side set of 3 which are only holders for the jumpers if I remember correctly.

First, I have to admit that I have not seen the inside of the stock elbow. I ASSUME that it is a straight through elbow with no restriction. The elbow that Edge Products provides has an orifice stuffed in it with about a . 015" hole. Eventually pressure will equalize on both sides of the orifice ... ... No??

They didn't actually make anything, they pressed an orifice (or "pill" in the sprint car world) into a brass elbow.

If I remeber correct, take a look at that elbow, their is a cross drilled hole in the elbow that vents pressure to the outside. The extra boost pressure is vented to "fool" the waste gate into only seeing part of the actual boost. Thats why it is a boost fooler.

Either way their is a increase in boost pressure with the elbow.

P. S. I have pins cut off both sets in mine, left and right bank.

The stock elbow is wide open. The smaller orfice that is in the boost elbow allows you to run more boost by fooling the wastegate. The wastegate stays closed longer giving you more boost. The more boost you run the cooler you exhaust temps will be . On the older auto's we turnbuckle the wastegate shut so that it doesn't open at all.

Well it is just a tad bit more technical then that, plus their is a restriction inside the elbow. . If you don't get it just right you can get too much boost a you will be buying a new turbo. Plus as long as they giving you the turbo why go through the hassle. Also it will do no good to have it with out the box because you also need the more fuel to create the more boost.

You are correct Mopar_Mudder, there is a hole about . 005" in diameter drilled through the side of the elbow allowing some pressure beed off.

I have my hose pinched completely off and can only hit 40PSI completely loaded with EZ on 6. It's hard for me to get above 1100 degrees pre-turbo.
