Wondering if anyone has had their EZ go bad and the symptoms. My situation-- for the past few weeks it felt like the truck didn't have it's normal zip with the EZ. But I know everyone says you get used to the power and pretty soon it seems slow. On Sat. I pulled a 2500# trailer up a long grade and had trouble maintaining 70. So yesterday I decided to check the connections. Looked like the data link plug was loose, so I pushed it as tight as I could. Started her up and the engine malfunction light came on. Drove about 1/2 mile and had a very pronounced "stumble/hesitation" on acceleration. Went home, took off EZ, engine light stayed on until I cycled the ignition 4 times and then went out and has stayed out. That's the first time the engine malfunction light stayed on. Seems to drive now like it has for the past few weeks. Does that sound like my EZ is shot? Still under warranty, and I'll try calling Brett today. By the way, it's an 01 ETH/DEE.

Steve, cycle the key three times on/off (don't bump the starter) and you will get any codes that were set when the check engine light came on. They will be displayed on the odometer. If you don't have a manual, you can get the code info here... .

Might be a good time to check your fuel pressure as well.

Thanks Big Saint-- It did set a code 1693 which the list says is a Turbo Charge Control Circuit Malfunction. Edge is sending me a new EZ. You're right about the fuel pressure check. Even though my engine is outside the serial no. range for most problems, it has 61,000 plus trouble free miles. I called Denver Cummins and have a new lift pump coming also. Figure I'll change it now before it leaves me sitting along the road on a nasty snowy night. I'll check the old one and if it's still somewhat ok, will keep it as a spare.

P1693

Steve,

In the shop manual(2000 Ram)It lists the code P1693 as a companion DTC was set in both the ECM and PCM.

I set it the other day when I tried to run a Diablo Puck and an EZ.

Today(would you believe it)there was a thread about the Puck and someone said you will set this code if try to run them together. Went out and retreived codes and sure enough it was there.

Not sure why the other list said it was something to do with the turbo,as I understand it ,it could be but also several other things.

I know someone gave an explanation a while back of what the 1693 code means, but I forgot. All I remember is that it meant something was out of spec. If anyone has a better memory or knows the effect of the 1693, please advise. Thanks
