Santa will be getting me gauges for my truck for christmas (even if I have to buy them myself).

I have a 5er that is 12'4" high and weighs 10-11 thousand LBS depending on how much "stuff" my wife packs in it.

Bottom line is I want more pulling power. I pull the 5er and every chance I get I pull a pulling sled.

A friend of mine has the 275s and loves them. Another friend has the 275 and the EZ and now is looking for a new clutch. Both of the above friends pull about the same weight one is a 5er and one a TT.

Another friend says to go with the DDIIs and then before you do anything else upgrade the clutch. These guys have had CTD for a number of years so I listen when they talk.

The EZ is about twice as much as the 275s I don't have a price on the DDIIs.

I know I may be opening a can of worms with this but so be it.

Thanks

See Ya

Chris, I'd go with the EZ box first, in fact, I did when the truck was otherwise stock. You will get plenty of power from the box plus the addition of the boost elbow, which will yield lower egt's than stock. I wouldn't plan on the clutch holding long with either addition, due to your pulling weight. If you add the 275's rather than the EZ, your egt's are only going to climb and I found mine to be pretty steep when completely stock.

Chris, just to put a stake in the ground. The max. post turbo temp. I have ever seen is 750 post turbo. This was while towing 10,000# up a 6% grade at 70MPH in 5'th gear. This is with 275's, boost module and 4" exhaust with the ambient air around 95F. Have no idea what the temp. would have been with the stock exhaust. Also, with this combination the stock clutch does not slip. Danny put one of the PE boxes in his ETH truck (stock injectors and 4" exhaust) and had to put in a stronger clutch. Decisions/Decisions/Decisions!

Performance steps

Chris, I agree with Bigsaint, go with the EZ first. It has a built in boost module, so you will already have one when you add the bigger injectors for your next performance upgrade. :D

With injectors alone without a boost module, and without the wastegate elbow modified, you may have some egt issues when towing.

What happens is that you need the extra air [boost pressure] to cool down the combustion temperatures with the increased fuel from big injectors.

If you raise the boost without a boost module, the computer will code and put you in 'limp mode', not what you want to have happen. A separate boost module or the one in the EZ fools the computer into believing that the boost is normal.

The Edge EZ is a great product with great backing and service from the manufacturers. You won't be disappointed

I've had good advice and service from Doug and Andy at www.smokindiesel.com

Chris, if we get a chance you need to try them out. First you can run my truck with 275's only, then run your truck with the EZ, then run mine with box and 275's. :D

Surely me you and David could find a Sat/Sun sometime soon to try this out, if you are in a hurry. Otherwise we could take some test runs next time we all get together in Jan.

DD website has II's for $600. I think we still get a 20% TDR Discount.

Let me know.

As everyone else says I vote for the EZ first.

Best thing since sliced bread

Thanks from what everyone is saying it will be an EZ going in my truck. Of course I would never add something without mother Dodge's OK. :D

Wes is there a dyno up your neck of the woods??

I will have my gauges by the first of the year I just need to figure out which ones I am going to go with.

I would like to have some more power before I start toting the camper or pulling in truck pulls next year.

Thanks

See Ya

Chris :)

Wes

I hear what you are saying. But I think my truck needs a load on her to really feel the difference. I'm about 75% sure that the EZ is the way to go 65 hp/185 Tq.

DYNO, DYNO, DYNO, DYNO

:D :p ;) :D

See Ya
