Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EZ problem

EZ going bad? Have had EZ since NOV 2000 about 45000 miles. Recently after a 40 mile run pulling a light load and idling, the motor stumbled about twice and the EZ wasn't working any more. I shut motor off and unpluged and repluged the three connectors and EZ worked again. Has done three more times since, all when idling, the last time I only repluged one connector. Is the problem in the connector or the printed circuit board gets a memory lock or something and will reset when unplugged?

Even with a 4 year old box? If that's true than that is pretty awesome.
