Edge told me the following, at the rear wheels.

1 - 30 HP

2 - 45 HP

3 - 60 HP

4 - 70 HP, 200 ft. lbs.

5 - 75 HP, 220 ft. lbs.

6 - 80 HP, 240 - 250 ft. lbs.

Do they not have 5 and 6 any more? They never did put those two levels in the manual, they're "hidden. "

Welcome to the Dark Side Bob. With a question like that, you will recieve too much information. There is no turning back... .....

1) What is the EZ?

It is a simple plug in power increase of up to 65 HP.

2) Who are Edge?

goto www.edgeproductsinc.com

3) How does it work?

First  secondOo. third:D

For those that are interested, Edge's new box will be out in 3 - 4 months and will modify timing and injection duration (probably not the correct term but that's what I understood). It will be plug and play like the EZ and not require any modifications and still be adjustable from the cab. It will have 4 - 5 settings and produce more horsepower and torque than the EZ. The power band is supposed to be similar to the EZ and be in lower RPM range.

I asked about a trading in the EZ and was told that there would be a trade-in program. Plus, you'd be able to run both the EZ and the new box at the same time!

Two questions:

1. Why is the EZ for the '03 priced less than the EZ for the older models?

2. Is this now box like the Comp, and will it be priced like it? ie, add $200 or so.

I haven't a clue why it's cheaper. Is that a bad thing? I paid $489 for my EZ. The new box will be more like the comp and be priced about $150 more.

Curious,

Where did ya see this ?

Thanks.

BTW, the EZ sure can make those H. O. 's run.

Put an AFE, with an EZ. They will scoot. Much faster than a 2nd Gen.

'03 cheaper base on the posted on-line price list. I think it was at the Diesel Dynamics. This is from the USDieselParts site.

Electronic Engine Performance

Application / Description Part Number Price

Power Edge EZ 2003 (+40-70 hp / 120-200 lbs/ft torque) EDGE-EZ-03 $519. 00

Power Edge EZ 1998. 5 - 2000 (+65 hp / 185 lbs/ft torque) EDGE-EZ-00 $549. 00

Power Edge EZ 2001 (+65 hp / 185 lbs/ft torque) EDGE-EZ-01 $549. 00

Power Edge EZ 2001 - Auto w/ HY35 turbo (+65 hp / 185 lbs/ft torque) 1055951X $589. 00

Power Edge EZ 2002 (+65 hp / 185 lbs/ft torque)

The 03 box is cheaper. I would imagine its because the programming required less R&D time. The 98. 5-02 trucks had to use the CAN-BUS language to get things done, the new one is voltage changes, in basic terms.

Settings 5 & 6 are not listed in the manuals. We have our own version of this box as well (TTPM), and the settings for 5 & 6 differ. We have a "no power" setting, to make the box act just as a boost module for those people that need to be able to turn the power off.

Level 5 & 6

I have an EZ installed on my truck from DD. I've heard about a level 5 or 6 but haven't seen anyone tell what the jumper settings are for those levels. Does anyone know, and what kind of performance do these levels give?

Kieth,

What, exactly, does the Edge EZ do? I understand it will increase boost, but does it also increase common rail fuel pressure? Will it try to use more fuel than the fuel system will provide without a lift pump improvement? Are the comments about improved fuel economy just wishful thinkin, or are they real? What are the risks? If this is a good idea, why doesn't DC program it in the stock configuration?

I have seen some posts here indicating people have moved their Edge EZ from their 2001 or 2002 CTD to their new 2003. That seems risky to me since the fuel system is so different. Any comment on that?

I have the 48re, so I don't want to increase the power or torque a lot. If I can get a little better economy and power without risk to the engine or transmission, I may be interested.

Kieth,

One more thing. What is the necessity for adding gages with the Edge? I have seen notes here saying they can't get this new engine or transmission to exceed tolerable heat levels, at any setting of the Edge.

First bomb is always guages. It is true that it is hard to get the new truck to 1250* with just and EZ but I have done it a number of times hauling my backhoe... ... ... ... ... .

It's not wishful thinking in my book. I went from 17. 5 stock to 18. 7 on level 3 with the EZ. Level 2 gives me 18. 1 (the same on two full tanks). I don't tow enough to know for sure what it does towing. All mpg figures are hand calculated.

Parshal,

Odd that level 3 gets better MPG than level 2. Any idea why? Thanks for the information. What speeds and what weight, for each tank you tested?

All comparisons were done with the same configuration with or without a load. I have the SO 5-speed and it weighs around 8k. All the compared tanks were normal driving to/from work and errands on the weekends.
