I'm thinking about removing my mech carter lift pump and installing the FASS system. I want to keep my fuel heater/strainer, since i live in Seattle. I'm Ok with removing the factory filter and just going with the FASS filters. Does the kit use my existing fuel lines or do I swap them out? If so, are the new lines hard or rubber? I'll have to run fuel line from strainer/heater straight to bosch pump since the factory filter is being bypassed. Can I use good quality marine soft fuel lines for this as opposed to having hard lines made? I'll allso have to fab a cover plate were the old carter lift was mounted and remount the fuel strainer/heater assembly on the plate. Any experiances with this or insights appriceated.

I haven't installed one but several thoughts.

Go to Cummins or DC and get a two lift pump to block gasket. Use it as a template to trace onto a piece of 3/16-1/4" steel plate or aluminium. This will become your "block off plate". . a dab of black RTV around the circumference (sp) of your new plate will assure no leaks etc. You might need some M-8 bolts which are a bit longer than stock, depending on the thickness of your plate.

A quick shot of "Titanium Black" will make the plate look oe.

Some marine line would likely work (supply to injection pump). Assure that the fuel line meets the FASS specs for pressure, vacuum supply id demands (volume)etc. You wouldn't want the hose to collapse or burst from excessive vacuum or pressure.

I'm guessing they supply some sort of rubber lines to connect to the factory lines, or perhaps the lines are removed for re-use and new pieces supplied. . I'm curious. .

Let me know. . how it turns out.

Good luck

Andy

I installed one on a bud's 2000, rubber line from the FASS to the injection pump. Bypassed all the factory filter and pump items.

It's really is a nice unit, however, don't know that I could justfy the cost on my 12V. Lots of other goodies to spend $600 on.
