Installed a new set of Mach 2's today and these have been "smooth as glass" right from first fire up... These beauties idle excellent, respond smooth off the bottom and have a nice clean & snappy feel to them. Plenty of power too. Gotta love 'em. . :)

Just wanted to say thanks to Bob Wagner who took care of me arranging the build, Don M. for his precision work and attention to the small details (right down to the excellent packaging) & priority shipping, and last but not least my good 'ol TDR buddie Bob4x4 for the recommendation. . (and he thought I wouldn't really go for it). . :-laf:-laf

Thanks Guys!
Phil

Glad to hear you like them. Watch out though as they are very addictive. I started out with Mach 1. 6's and will be installing Mach 6's next week (having had Mach 4's in the interim). Don's injectors are definitely top notch.

Did I miss the thread where you were thinking about this out loud? I thought you were after fuel mileage and smoke control and RV275s were the da bomb. Maybe I'm wrong about that. Either way, do you mind saying how these new injectors fit your needs, whatever they are?

I've thought about going back to my stock HO injectors, mainly to reduce smoke, but the thought of all the effort to swap injectors and lose 90 HP would make me cry. The Mach 1. 6's I have plus any fueling box (eg. Smarty in my case) can deliver more fuel than my stock turbo can handle in towing situations. So I have to drive around that. I just haven't wanted to spend the money on a "better" turbo AND new exhaust brake and exhaust piping just to get that little extra towing performance.

I could feel the difference going from RV275s to Mach 1. 6s, but it wasn't stunning. Maybe if I'd jumped from stock the difference would be more pronounced. I have no complaints about F1 injectors, but bigger injectors in general raise your minimum fueling. That is to say, you can't dial the power down when you don't need it, like with electronic fuel management. I miss the on-the-fly adjustability I had with the Comp, but I still have wiretapaphobia :)

I miss the on-the-fly adjustability I had with the Comp, but I still have wiretapaphobia :)

I liked those RV275's a lot for that "on-the-fly adjustability" and with TWO boxes (had a TTPM & APB wire-tap fueling box) the power could always be dialed in for the occasion. But, as said, it required TWO boxes to do that. Without something coaxing the VP to add extra fuel, it just didn't have enough oomph (for the supposed fuel economy increase - that was very small over the previous DD3's).

After laying out a spreadsheet showing various injector/box combos and listening to someone that works on them all day long, Mach 2's ALONE became the obvious choice of power for what the stock turbo can handle (235 + 105 = 340 hp). In wanting to keep the stock turbo, or upgrading to 35/40 hybrid max in the future this was a good balanced level.

Now, the only add on is the simple boost module to allow the ecm to fuel past 20psi, and NO other electronics are needed to have the balance, and it appears the Mach injectors should get the same mileage, possibly slightly better than the 275's when driven normally (conservative). Also, these injectors run smooth even just putting around, so they should work fine rockcrawling, RV'ing through campgrounds, etc.

Now, she's sweet & simple. . And running good without any power adders especially, no added timing or "wire-tap", so the VP44 "should be" more reliable than before.

Sure am glad we're all liking our new injectors. . :D

There's another reason too, but hopefully that answered the main question.

That was the long answer. .

OK, good answer. Does this sentence say that the marginal fuel economy increase (DD3 for RV275) was not worth the power reduction? I don't think I lost any economy going to Mach 1. 6 and gained 45 HP over the RV275s. I figure I'm at about 350 HP, all I really need...

Agreed. . And Yes, Thats basically what the sentence meant.

If I were you, JMO, I would stick with the mach "1. perfects" and the smarty combo. As you indicated, that puts you right there where your stock turbo works well.

The only thing I see you will gain by going down to the smaller injectors would be a bit less touchy throttle off idle. And with a programmer you don't need a boost module like I do while running stock software so that means less added electronics & connections to fail too. .

Of the several sets of inj's I've tried before, a major factor that seems to determine MPG's is driving style. Since bigger inj's will let you waste fuel easier than smaller ones, if youre a conservative driver, there shouldnt be as much difference between types, but if you like romping it, then the smaller inj's would probably help on MPG's, but they aren't really suitable for aggressive drivers anyways.

Phil,

You're getting me in the mood to get some 4's, just hope that my OFE can handle it...

Joe

Oh man Joe! Youre gonna have a screamer if you do that. . :D

Like most people have been saying for a long time, these machs are pretty clean and crisp for the increase they give. Pretty impressive. .

Heck, you can always upgrade to a dual disk clutch. . No biggie. Hope the cost doesn't cut into your BBQ'ing too bad though. . ;)

Good to hear you are happy with your choice. What are your EGT with those Mach2(real world driving)? I am considering a good injector for mileage , but I need the truck as reliable as it can be, it's a work truck. So I am considering a DDP 60hp Stage I. What do you think?

Phil, maybe in a few weeks I will have a BBQ and do wanna give you enough time to make sure you can attend, make sure to bring a guest if you wish or a few friends, no problem. I always have more than enough to BBQ, beleive me, we do go hungry around here. It's all about the RedOak wood...

He's probably got some injectors he needs "help" installing, while he & I are filling up the bone plate. . :D

Sounds great Joe! You think good. .

MMMmmmm for BBQ like that my name can be BOB4X4... . when do I come over?

:-laf I think I have swapped more injectors in and out of Joes truck than most people have had BBQ's

My favorite in his truck was the Mach 2's his clutches favorite was 275's. Joe's choice varies with his mood

Bob

Bob, Im afraid that I will burn up the clutch if YOU drop in the 4's for me:( can anyone else chime in here and verify that?

Hayden, I have Family in Albuquerque, when I travel there I make sure that I have enough wood and food for a month, because there is no good food in N. M. Beleive me:)
