Well folks, May Madness has come and gone and we are still analyzing everything we saw there. Lots of great memories.
I thought I'd post our experiences with MADDOG's F350.
First some background. Richard had pretty well taken the PSD engine as far as it would go and he recognized it wasn't standing up to the Cummins powered vehicles at the dyno events. So he started to flirt with the idea of replacing the V8 with a I 6.
Next thing you know the V8 was sent off to a local Ford dude to install in his rig and Richard began to assemble his newly acquired 12v motor. The plan was to run a lot of fuel and burn it with the finest twin system available.
The head got ported, a aftermarket cam was installed, I provided the twin system, and a stupid pump was the finishing touch. I was pretty opptimistic, but we were still blown away with how much power this engine made and how low the egt's were. In the first week two input shafts were shapped! Later a third was busted.
While at MM the truck dynoed at 572 with a aftermarket set of injectors. On Friday Richard installed the Performance Diesel race injectors I brought with me and he prepared to redyno. This time the big monster was REAL happy and cranked out 690 horsepower which was good for a trophy in his class.
What a success story this is for MADDOG. I can't tell you how well this turbo/pump/injector combo works.
