I had the alarm set so it does not chirp/honk when the doors are locked/unlocked alarm armed/disarmed. I have had it this way since I picked it up as I hate the late at night from neighbors that do it, so don't add to the problem right?

Anyway what does this alarm do? I have never been able to set the alarm off, and from the best I can tell it has never gone off accidently (is there a way to tell if it has been triggered, aftermarket alarm I have on 96 will chirp three times even with arm/disarm chirp turned off) horn chirps, lights flash three times, code/light on the dash, etc? I have shook the crap out of truck, bumped it, pounded on the glass, hit glass with keys to simulate breaking glass sound, nothing nada.

I can arm system reach through open window open door; no alarm; start truck; no alarm; drive off;no alarm.

Did I pay a couple hundred bucks for a door lock/unlock feature?

Hey Eric,

I'm not sure, but I think you actually have to have the dealer activate the alarm. When I purchased mine, it honked like it armed and honked like it disarmed, but like you said, I could open the doors, kick it, shake it and nothing. They did activate the alarm after a few days, because, they said it came with an alarm but it had to be activated. Anyways, the dealer ship did a nasty wiring job underneath my kneebuster that they could have given me the supplies and I would have done it cleaner.

But I think, that could be your problem, Im just saying because it happened to me, doesnt hurt to take it back and let them know, especially if you paid for it.

I think you have to wait a minute or so after locking the truck before the alarm sets. It you try to open it as soon as you lock it, the alarm won't go off. The alarm operation in my owner's manual starts on pg 27. Good description of how it works.

Yeah I guess reading manual sometimes won't hurt that is the second time I have gone duh it is right there in front of my face.
