Ok, when I bought my truck, I got a real good deal on it, but it didn't come with the tow mirrors like I wanted. I thought Id just add the factory heated/power tow mirrors later, but I also see that CIPA makes ones that slip on to the 6x9 size mirrors for my dodge as well. I am only going to be towing an open car trailer with a jeep on it occasionally. Also, I may have a slide in camper in the bed of my truck as well. Which do you think are better for my application?

I have never really cared for the slip on mirrors much. On the diesel they just seem to viberate too much and the mirrors are too small to be much help if you really need to see with them. I am upgrading my truck to the dodge factory tow mirrors because they appear to be a nice looking, very functional option at a reasonable price.

I added the factory tow mirrors to my 99 and although my year are not heated or powered, they are well designed with no vibration, excellent spot mirrors and they swing both ways if something or someone hits them. Definitely a great product! With or without my camper they are an asset.

Factory tow mirrors are the best I've ever seen (OEM).

With an 8. 5'x8'x34' box behind me (the GN trailer), good tow mirrors are a must.

I think you will like them.

I'd have to agree the factory mirrors are great. They do not swing both ways, only to the rear of the vehicle. At least the new ones don't.....

Have they changed the towing mirrors? Mine swing both ways.

I just went out to check (make sure senility hasn't set in) and mine do fold forward.

Now I didn't try to fold them all the way flat (no point in doing that), but they do indeed fold forward.

Apparently the mirrors have changed at some point.

Factory Tow Mirrors

I installed the factory tow mirrors after trying the slip on, strap on, clamp on cr. p!

Factory mirrors are much better to me.

Just to give a few more options, I have Powervisions on the 97 and Bestops on the 99 and am very happy with both. No vibration from either. I think i prefer the Bestops though for sheer size.

Went through all of the slip on mirrors and the available other ones to see towing my trailer for 12 years and the OEM tow mirrors ordered on my 04 CTD were the best investment that I ever made. No vibration and excellant vision hauling our 5th wheel trailer. Never knew I missed so much. "Go for it" on the OEM.

I have a set that are heated, that I may sell.

I guess I'm the strange one. I bought sports mirrors off Ebay and took the towing ones off. I only tow 3-4 times a year.

Scott, The fact tows are awesome, when you tow the Jeep you won't need to fold them up they cover so much visability.

In the up position would be great for travel trailers.

The only downfall is the occasional high-five from too-close opposite traffic. I've clacked my once but the other guy lost his old style mirror, just got a little paint one mine.

X2 on eBay hunting.
